Thurs. Mar. 18 at FCCJ:
Dimensions of an Enterprise and Data Modeling by Francois Cartier, Senior
Consultant, California-based e-Modelers, Inc.
Francois Cartier will explain how he models the dimensions of an enterprise
as a combination of shared industry-group characteristics and
company-specific characteristics. Such modeling helps us understand why
mergers and acquisitions are so difficult, and what up-front questions
should be asked when companies intend to merge (a timely topic given the
increasing number of large corporate mergers in Japan).
Francois will also explain what Data Modeling is, and why it is important in
providing mid-sized and large-sized companies with a competitive edge in
their markets. He will conduct a short modeling session with the audience to
demonstrate the main concepts, symbols, and steps used to build a data
model.
Speaker: Francois Cartier was born in Paris, France, and obtained a
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Universite de Montreal, Canada. For much
of his career, he has been based in California's Silicon Valley.
He is a regular fixture at many industry conferences and conventions.
Francois has been a member of the Data Administration Management Association
(DAMA) since 1987, and currently serves as its Treasurer.
He is also a Senior Consultant to California-based e-Modelers, Inc.
