Thursday May 20 at FCCJ:
IT Solution Approaches for the New Global Regulatory Environment.
The newest challenge for IT managers is how to cope with compliance to the
increasing number of regulations currently being enacted around the world in
every region and every industry. With issues such as the Sarbanes-Oxley,
Basel II, customer privacy legislation, traceability, hazmat, and
end-of-life regulations enacted around the world, it is a major challenge to
know what information within a company's databases may be used for what
purposes within and across borders.
John Linehan introduces the problems and shows the common solution patterns
through modern IT architectures. As data systems are integrated to be able
to meet the new rules, the "Data Quality Problem" rears its ugly head. Is
the need to move to huge centralized databases a return to the mainframe?
And how have the roles of Data Warehouses and Data Hubs changed in this new
age of Information Architecture? This promises to be a fascinating
presentation.
