Thursday July 15 at FCCJ:

The state of Linux from the Enterprise IT standpoint

Speaker: Ken Koike

Director, North Asia Channel Sales and Development - Red Hat

Linux open source operating system has been widely used in enterprise
applications throughout the world now. It has received particular attention
by China and other Asian government as an alternative to traditional

of Linux are not well understood by the enterprise IT community. Ken's

open source business models. He will dispel myths between Open Source and
Proprietary Software and reveal secrets around security, software assurance
and standardization that the big players don't want you to know.
Additionally Ken will bring information on new shifts in customer demand --
including Linux on the Mainframe..

Ken Koike serves as Director, North Asia Channel Sales and Development for

PCC (Pink Cow Comspiracy) Night!

PCC - "Bringing together people building IT businesses"

Wed. July 14th, 7pm 'til late

"Bootstrap Market Entry", Evan Owens, www.crosswire.co.jp

Many companies force their way into Japan only to find, after a year, that
the market is considerably more difficult to enter than they originally
imagined. Evan will talk about his own experiences with this and how, over
two years, CrossWire has been gradually turning a disaster into a success
story.

Evan has been working in Japan as a technologist for nearly ten years and
has participated in projects for a variety of large organizations, both
foreign and Japanese alike. Discovering that his abilities to bring
cultures together -- Western and Japanese, Engineering and Business -- were
in demand, Evan partnered with Jeffrey Jousan in 2002 to setup a new kind of
deeply technical market-entry boutique for the Japanese market.

Presentation & discussion from 7-8pm then from 8pm onward will be open
networking (DJ: Mike Kato) so that everyone can meet people and share what
they are working on.

NO CHARGE for entry! (Bar and food pay as you go) RedHook beer on special
for the night!

Registration NOT required

JULY MONTHLY MEETING

Thursday, July 8, 2004, doors open at 6:30 pm At the Foreign Correspondent's
Club

Speaker: Rick Roa, author of an "American Maverick in Japan"

Tokyo attracts many colorful characters some eventually move on, others
stay.

Longtime Tokyoite, Rick Roa, chose to put down roots in the Big Mikan and
seek opportunity in a wide variety of fields, including the fast-moving
entertainment industry. Rick gives his personal insight into the industry
and the modern history behind Roppongi, Ginza and Shibuya as seen over the
last three decades.

Well-known in the Japanese and foreign business community, Rick was born and
raised in Brooklyn, New York. He first traveled overseas with the U.S. Army
to Korea before joining an electrical company in the Bahamas, Germany and
the Philippines.

Since coming to Japan in 1968, Rick has showed true entrepreneurial spirit
by taking on projects such as the American Music Awards Concert in Tokyo and
"The Great American Train" - a train that traveled throughout Japan
marketing American products in the 80's.

Fresh of the press, Rick's autobiography, "American Maverick in Japan,"

written by Tony Teora, dives into some of his anecdotes including those
involving celebrities such as Whitney Houston and Dewi Sukarno.
