ICA June 16 Event at FCCJ

Topic: Vendors, technology, and Japan!
Speaker: Crissman Loomis - Assistant VP, IT Dept, Provider Management Group -
Manulife Insurance Japan

Vendors in Japan often act differently from vendors anywhere else in the world.
Technology looks surprisingly advanced when you visit Akihabara, and yet many
businesses in Japan run on end-of-life OS's and software. In the effort to
present unique market advantages, vendors often apply technologies in a
different way than anticipated. Join Crissman Loomis from Manulife Japan as he
shares some of the surprising experiences he has discovered by managing IT
vendors in Japan to leverage new technologies and reduce costs.

Topics Crissman will address include cultural difficulties with RFPs,
differences in technology usefulness between Japan and the West, and how to
manage multiple vendors to find the best price or technology for your
requirements. Specific examples will include discussion of the VoIP systems
available in Japan, how Manulife reduced annual printing costs by 60%, and how
to structure RFPs to get the best price within a reasonable amount of time. If
you're looking for ways to reduce your firmfs IT costs, or the best ways
technology can be used in Japan, donft miss this event.

As Assistant Vice President running the Provider Management Group at Manulife,
Crissman manages all of the hardware and infrastructure for the mainframe,
server, desktop, network, and telecommunications systems. Manulife Insurance
Japan has over 100 regional sales offices in Japan supporting over 4,000 sales
agents and 1,500 other employees.
