ICA October 20 Event at FCCJ

Topic: The Next Generation of Internet Protocol
Opportunities and Challenges for Enterprises in Japan

IPv6, the next generation Internet Protocol, has been in the works since the
early 90s when the rapid growth of the Internet threatened to exhaust existing
IP addresses. The new protocol offers scalability, increased security features,
real-time traffic support and auto-configuration, but the path is full of
pitfalls and risk. This presentation will focus on how to introduce IPv6
networking into the enterprise network without the introduction of productivity
risk. Specific focus will be on how to make enterprise environments more secure,
reliable, and productive for Voice, Video, Data, and Interactive networking.

Japan is a leader in the development of IPv6 technologies, but the focus is
mostly on service providers in the initial phases. As the list of service
providers offering IPv6 increases, so does the chance and opportunity to
effectively introduce high productivity IPv6 technologies. Our speaker, Gary
Blankenship, plunged into communications in 1983 as a telephone and data systems
engineer in the United States Marine Corps for 14 years in roles ranging from
Telephone Switchboard Technician to Information Systems Management Officer.
Later Gary worked for key US government contracts as the lead engineer in Asia
for Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) including all US
Medical facilities in Asia and as a key network security architect and operator
for the United States Marine Corps' Network Operations Center in Quantico, VA.
Mr. Blankenship has a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from
the University of Maryland.

SPEAKER

Gary Blankenship Technical Director in Japan for Foundry Networks
