Hi all,
Pardon the last-minute notice/promotion!
We're holding another local CodeRetreat, this Saturday, July 11, at Gale Cengage Learning in Farmington, MI.
At CodeRetreat, we get together for a day in Dojo style and (believe it or not) test-drive the same algorithm again and again. We work in pairs, triples, or outright mobs. For the last few CodeRetreats we have been test-driving tiny little object models for Conway's Game of Life, in Java. We'll likely do Game of Life again this time, all morning and part of the afternoon. Toward the end of the day, we look for some interesting, fun way to mix it up (at a previous CodeRetreat, we converted all of a good Java Game of Life implementation to Groovy). This time, we might monkey around with a new candidate coding exercise toward the end of the afternoon (or not).
If you have some time this Saturday, and if you are interested in honing high software craft (including test-driving and refactoring), please consider stopping by for some clean code, good free food, networking, and good times.
You can learn more here; if you decide to attend, please register on the ning site and RSVP so we can order enough food for everyone:
