Hi Chris,
There“s a company in the U.S. with name „Film
XChange“. They are selling short ends and recans. One complete and tested
roll costs 50% of what you have to pay, when you buy directly from Kodak or
Fuji. If you are buying small amounts, and this means 100ft loads upt to 200ft,
it is not tested and you get it almost for nothing. For 150ft of fresh Kodak
Stock recanned as a short end, I had to pay 7 Euros!! This short loads are not
tested as the bigger loads, but there“s in general no problem using them.
The company Film X Change has bases in
many countries. The one in Germany is in Hamburg. If there“s a base of this
company in Germany, there should be one in the UK too.
Best regards,
Ole

Betreff: [k-3] 16mm short
ends/cheap stock to UK??
Hi again all, and glad that I might have kick-started
the
forum's "Second Life". Happy to oblige! ;-),
I'm still pondering the K3. So another question that may help me
decide to buy one:
As I'm on a VERY tight budget, and as shooting on 16mm is similar to
running gold dust through one's fingers, does anyone know where you
can get cheap 16mm film stock? If I get a K3 I shall obviously want
to do some tests, so cheap and even outdated stock will suffice for
those first few rolls. I'm based in the UK, but as long as they will
ship to the UK I'm open to sellers from outside. I have already done
some online searching and although I found some very nice prices for
short ends etc (Pro 8mm and Spectra to name but two), my joy was
somewhat short-lived when I dicovered the shipping costs to be
astronomical - even for a single roll (buying large amounts would
work out okay, but not small amounts).
Again, any help would be most welcome.
Thanks,
Chris
