I am also using entirely the Kinor 16 –and
it is really great in my eyes. And far more professionell then the K3. It is
pin registered and offers Mags that are very quickly interchangeable.
The standard motor 29EPSS is not crystal
sync. But there was a crystal-sync motor for the Kinor 16 –the 10EP-16APK.
Sometimes you will find Kinor 16s with this motor on EBay.
If you like to have your Kinor 16 with the
29EPSS standard motor crystal sync, you can send it to Olexandr Kalynychenko. He
will modify it with modern electronics to crystal sync multi-speed! The price fort his modification (servicing included) is 350
Euro. A great offer in my eyes.
Best regards,
Ole

I converted to the Kinor 16 some time ago, back when complete, brand-new
Kinor 16 kits were availale for about twice what the going rate for K-3
kits were. The situation has radically changed, now, and I haven't seen a
brand-new Kinor 16 kit in a long time.
A Kinor 16 kit includes:
Second series camera body, with a "hard front", not a turret
Motor and its special cables
Handgrip and trigger for the motor
Two 100' daylight load mags, non-displacement type
One 400' conventional load mags, displacement type
10-100mm relatively fast zoom lens
0.8X "reducer" for the zoom, makes it into a 8-80mm
8mm fast ultra-wide prime lens
Some miscellania.
Alas, a Kinor 16 was intended for TV newsgathering, and it is factory set
for 25 fps, but changing it to 24 fps is pretty easy. It is NOT crystal
controlled, but is governor controlled using tachometer feedback, so it
is pretty stable. The tachometer output also generates the pilotone.
After the Kinor 16, the next logical step was a Kinor 35, and I got one
of those, too.
