john, sounds like the lens cap is just screwed on too tight. It's a screw on type...counterclockwise to get off... Good luck!...

The lens caps sometimes warp (not molded correctly), or were put on incorrectly and the threads are crossed. Two possibilities - get one of those rubber-like...
