I contacted sysadmin@... a few hours ago, and I am waiting for them to
have a few minutes and deal with this.

Lets make a schedule:
1) subscribe kde-il@yahoogroups.com to kde-i18n-il@... by 10-7-2009 (this
way, people sending emails to yahoo.com will not get lost)
2) by 15-7-2009 people should post only to the @kde.org mailing list
3) move kde-il@yahoogroups.com  to read-only by 31-7-2009, and every post to
it will ask the poster to move to the new list, unsubscribe the yahoo.com list
from the @kde.org list
4) Next month we are fully hosted by kde.org only, and kill @yahoo.com

Meni, do we have a way to extract the history of the yahoo.com list into the
new one?

(PS: new phone? I cannot contact you)

I think that the schedule is rather relaxed, I would suggest that as
soon as there exists an address on KDE servers that people be
requested to post only to it, and that posts to the old list will get
a message (way before it becomes read only). Let them post there, but
start requesting to move right away.

No need to kill the Yahoo account, because of the archive. Should I
try to scape it and host on dotancohen.com or gibberish.co.il?

Shalom my dearest KDE l10n contributors and Ubuntu translation coordinators :)

It's been some time since I started whining about how horribly the
Kubuntu l10n is degraded compared to KDE's. Time that didn't pass
unused. We are currently in the process of improving the reflection of
KDE l10n changes (.pot movement/removal/..) to Launchpad (Rosetta),
thus decreasing the probability of missing or outdated templates.
Within the last few months Rosetta as well as the whole Ubuntu
translation process got tremendous improvements which should also help
prevent unexpected issues from appearing (at all).

=== KDE Liaison ===
One of the most important changes is probably the introduction of the
Ubuntu Translation Coordinator team, who's members are responsible for
management of translation templates (.pot). Even though this helps a
lot, since now the Kubuntu developers have someone to blame when
something goes wrong ;-), they are currently lacking a member who is
experienced with KDE's l10n process and the inner workings of KDE in
general.

So I am asking you: Is someone willing to at least become KDE liaison
for the Ubuntu Translation Coordinator team? You'd be their primary
contact for anything KDE related, so being experienced is certainly
helpful (otherwise you should at least know whom to ask :)).
A lot of the problems Kubuntu experienced in the past appeared because
the bigger part of the Ubuntu translation team doesn't exactly know
all that much about KDE l10n, and I have been told KDE handles some
stuff quite differently, so having someone to help the Ubuntu
Translation Coordinator to stay on top of things would help a lot.

It would be good to have some people from KDE around, because then we
could help people upstream translation changes from Launchpad to KDE
and raise general awareness of upstreaming changes. Are you interested
in this? If so, is the date ok?

We, at Kubuntu, really hope that the ongoing changes enable us to
deploy Kubuntu with the kick-arse l10n quality from KDE, in future
releases. No matter what your point of view on Rosetta is, bad l10n in
Kubuntu reflects badly on KDE, especially because Ubuntu is the
closest alternative Linux choice.

I for one will continue fighting for perfect localization in Kubuntu.
Will you join me? :)

I am certain _not_ familiar with the  inner workings of KDE, but if /
when the translations get on Launchpad I will certainly be able to
help translate. I have SVN access to KDE and have tried translation,
but found it too difficult to learn. I am in the middle of translating
Anki on Launchpad, and it is very easy. I cannot wait to start helping
out with Kubuntu in this regard.

Well, I have sit down with Yaron about a year ago, and I used a simple test
case: translate this string, from this application. He was not able to find the
translation as fast as I could.

When he did, he translated it, and sent it to me. He was unable to tell me to
which branch of KDE the po file was taken from (where the hell should I put
that po). At that time, KDE had 3 branches (4.1, 4.2-trunk, 3.5).

Then again, I still don't understand the workflow from Ubuntu's system to KDE's
one - lets say you translate at Launchpad, how the hell the PO goes to the
SVN? What happens when you translate the same PO I am translating in the SVN,
who wins? You do you resolve conflicts?

Really, I want to know.

It does not offer a translation interface but the translation management process is great!

זאת בעיקרון אותה רשימה, ואתה כבר רשום.
הרעיון הוא שלא תידרש התערבות של המשתמש
והוא לא יצטרך לטרוח. מה שדיאגו יחליט בכל
מקרה...

זאת לא אותה רשימה. יש לה אותה מטרה ואותם
אנשים, אבל היא רשימה אחרת. אל
תעשה החלטות עבור אחרים, ואל תצרף אותם
לתפוצות שהם לא ביקשו. זה אפילו
בלטי חוקי במקומות מסויימים (לא בארץ לצערי).

המילה שאתה מחפש היא בלתי
אין צורך לתקוף, ההצעה אינה מוצלחת ואפשר להעיר בנועם
דיאגו, לא חוקיות ולא בטיח, מי שרוצה ירשם, אני מבחינתי רשום לשתי הרשימות ומקבל משתיהן מיילים
אם מישהו בעתיד יפרסם שם זה יופיע אצלי ואני בטוח שגם אצל אחרים ונוכל להעיר לו שהרשימה עברה לכתובת חדשה וכן הלאה...

אני כבר רשום לרשימה החדשה
נקווה שהיא לא בולעת מיילים וכו'

Hello, you are receiving this mail because you volunteered to do KDE
announcement translations.

KDE 4.3 release is on 05.08.2009 and so we are asking you to translate
the release that can be found at

as soon as possible

Once you have the announcement translated you should:

  a) Send me the translation and we will host it, it makes much more easy to
release all translations at once than relying on you beign available to make
the annoucement at the same time we do it on kde.org. Of course you can still
host the translation on your team website but be sure NOT to publish it
BEFORE we do.

  b) Wait until you see the announcement at dot.kde.org or www.kde.org main
pages for spreading the good news.

of KDE 4.3.1

Thats a good question, the regular interval would be to tag on the last
thursday of this month (so August 27th) and release on first tuesday (so,
September 1st).

This should work for me, I have most likely the time to do it.

Are there any comments? should we delay one or two more weeks? There have been
a LOT of commits in 4.3 branch, so I don't see a strong reason for delaying.

Please speak up now, otherwise I'll go ahead and announce this on saturday.

בצער רב סגרתי את הפורום עברי, בגלל תעבורה
נמוכה. כבר כמה שבועות המנהלים
מסנג'סים לי על כך, אוני דוחה את זה עוד ועוד...
אבל פשוט אין צורך בעוד פורום
בעברית.

לא נורא מדי, יש מספיק ואנשים נראים מרוצים.
