Here is the second surprise !!
Did you know there is a Calicut in Andaman & Nicobar Islands also !

I should have done this before I posted my
earlier mail :-).
So the specimen of Andaman Shama must have indeed been collected from Calicut -
but not then one in Kerala but from Andaman.
This could be a a mistake in the handbook or probably mis-labelled specimen.
