Attempt to sell barn owls: man held A Correspondent
KALPETTA: Forest officials on Thursday arrested a man for trying to
sell barn owls at Payyampally near Mananthavadi in the district.
A.B Manoj, 21, from Pakkom near Pulpally, was arrested on a tip-off
while he and his friend were carrying two barn owls in a paper carton.
His friend managed to escape, V. Rajan, range officer, said.
They had bought the birds from Pakkom at a nominal price and were
trying to sell them for a profit. The two owls were recovered. Manoj
was produced before the first class magistrate’s court at Mananthavadi
on Thursday. He was remanded for 14 days.
