Re: [kicad-users] Feature request: Hard metric

Remember the huge debacle a few years back when the Mars lander crashed and was destroyed because one software group used Metric and another software group used "traditional" units?  The number was passed from one subsystem to another and, well, uh....OOOPS.....Hundreds of millions of US$$$$ were lost.

Oh well.

Greg

Beg pardon :).  I was basing this on my own personal experience and
what an American engineer told me just recently.  I should add that
I've yet to meet a US engineer that didn't find the continued use of
traditional units in their industry annoying or embarrassing, and NASA
of course use metric.  So scratch "US" from my list.

Regards,

Robert.

In the PCB tool (and module editor) I think it'd be a good idea to use hard metric when in metric mode, rather than the metrified english as it's now done. ...

No, the correct terminology for 1/1000 of an inch is "mil". There's countless PCB manufacturers who agree with me on this, so I'll take their word on it. ...
