Hi Pierre:
It's fine to join and then just listen. If you find
you have something to say, then please do contribute;
this is a very accomodating group, and we are all
trying to gain a better clarity with regard to the
ideas Klein discusses.
You may have taken Bill Oates's question ("why did you
join?!") as a kind of challenge...and, thus, you would
have to have a statement of purpose or a qualifying
stated opinion to join the group.
Ah, no, not at all.
I think--having known Bill on the list for a while--he
was just curious as to whether there was some
motivating factor for the spike in people joining the
list. Maybe it was a conference, another group's
activity, or a reference in the scholarly literature,
for example, that brought you here. Maybe it was just
coincidence.
The Klein list has been inactive for a while, and we
did indeed "bog down" as Prof. Mayberry has stated in
another post. Actually, against Prof. Mayberry, I
think we did pretty good on Plato, but that we in fact
bogged down on Plato's student, Aristotle. No, no;
more than that: I think we mangled Aristotle!
Well, whatever the judgment, here we are, and after a
rather long respite, it might be time to continue with
the 2nd part of Klein's book. Welcome to the Klein
group! We look forward to your questions, comments,
and suggestions.
