Hi all,
Many of us will be in Mesa, Arizona this week enjoying 3-D, so this is an
early reminder of next weeks local Los Angeles events.
The Stereo Club of Southern California - The LA 3-D group...
As Jon Schnitzer reminded the LA 3-D Club facebook members:
"Monthly Club Meeting: July 2009" on Thursday, July 16 at 7:30pm.
"Wanna see 3D pics from around the world?".
Event: Monthly Club Meeting: July 2009
"iFolios - 3D photos from around the world!"
Where: Pasadena Armory Center for the Arts - Bring a friend!
Get ready for a stunning array of stereo photographs from makers all
around the world. Once again the ISU (International Stereoscopic Union)
iFolios is being showcased at the July meeting of SCSC. These are
award-winning images from 10 different stereo clubs around the world.
As a special treat, SCSC members will also enjoy a series of images with
"Chromatic 3D" technology, a club first. Special glasses will be
provided for those in attendance to view this stereoscopic eye candy.
Don't miss this unique pair of special SCSC stereo digital presentations.
See our web site at http://www.la3-Dclub.com/ and click on the words,
"We've Moved!" This will give you the address and map. Free church
parking is available on the East side of Raymond as you go North on
Raymond just past Walnut. The lot stays open for us until 10:30 that night.
Also, the Metro Gold Line train stops only a block away from the Armory,
at the Memorial Park Station.)
Two days earlier on July 14th, as mentioned in the 3-D News:
Astronauts as 3-D Filmmakers
Council presents "Astronaut as Filmmaker." Hosted by Oscar-nominated
cinematographer Caleb Deschanel (The Right Stuff) and Oscar winning
visual effects supervisor John Dykstra (Star Wars.) They will discuss and
explore the close-knit relationship between the National Aeronautics and
Space Administration (NASA) and the motion pictures. The presentation
will feature astronauts including Commander Scott Altman, who recently
returned from the STS-125 shuttle mission to the Hubble Space Telescope
(soon to be a 3-D IMAX movie.) They will discuss the challenges and
revelations of filming in outer space. Doors open at 7 p.m.
For those interested, the spring 2009 issue of Filmfax magazine, on stands
now, has the first part of an article entitled '3-D Cinema: Yesterday, Today,
And Tomorrow! - An In-Depth look at the visionary film process.
See you in Mesa!
