Subject: [laadb2ug] Re: db2setup will not run
Hi Bryan,
I have never been a big fan of the GUI frontends that IBM has decided
should be placed in front of install / fixpack scripts so if it were
me, I would forgo the db2set and use the db2_install instead.
Now granted it will take more work as all db2_install does is install
the packages, so you will have to build the instance and the db2admin
node, create users, do the db2set stuff, yada, yada, yada, but at
least IF the script fails you get a much better error code than
"ooops, something busted!"
However, back to the original question. Since we all love the pretty
little GUI screens, make sure first that your services for such pretty
graphics is up and running. Sometimes it is the graphics card itself
that will not support x-windows type emulations.
You can also check your various Unix logs for any errors and the db2
install log may offer some help(emphasis on MAY), let us know how it
goes and if we can be of any more help.
Thanks,
John
