Hello all,

That's right, it's finally here! After much promising on my behalf, and much
wailing and gnashing of teeth on your behalf, LabHand 1.0 has entered the
building!

I currently don't have access to a Macintosh Manager network, so 1.0 hasn't
been properly tested. 1.0 is exactly the same as b11, but without the
expiration date, so if b11 is working for you, then 1.0 should work just
fine. I'm going to release a 1.0.1 update soon, which will have been
properly tested, and it will have some better documentation. I'm releasing
1.0 now, as b11 will expire in the near future.

To justify the amount of time I've already spent on LabHand, and to make
sure I continue to work on it, I'm releasing it as shareware (which I think
most users knew was my intention). I haven't worked out the finer details of
how much to pay, and how to pay it. I didn't want to delay the release of
the software any further, so I'll put payment information on the web site in
the near future. Unregistered versions of LabHand currently have NO
restrictions.

I recently decided to quit my full time job to pursue other interests, one
of which is software development. This is good news for LabHand and File
Blaster users. You'll see more frequent updates to both of these programs in
2003. I'll also have more time to respond to emails. Over the last year I've
been very busy at work, which means I've been very slack at replying to
emails. Plus my email address has changed a few times, and my email server
has stuffed up on numerous occasions, which is all bad news for people
emailing me. 2003 should see a marked increase in my responsiveness. I'm
also going to write some proper documentation for my software, which should
cut down on people's need to email me. My "smacdonald@..." email
address will probably stop working when I officially leave work, so make
sure you send stuff to the "ugmedia@..." address.

Anyway, enough of my life story. LabHand 1.0 is the same as b11, but it
won't expire. I'll put payment info on the web site when it's sorted out.
2003 will be a very good year.

In short, stay tuned to the web site. Speaking of the web site... The
Reptiles Down Under site is only temporary. At some stage I'll get a proper
Ug Media web site up and running. When that happens the Reptiles Down Under
site will point to the new one.

As per usual, if you have any questions, feel free to email me. I'm on
holidays at the moment, so I have plenty of time to devote to LabHand, which
is what I plan on doing.
