Job Descriptions for position # 1:
Overview
The Research Chemist provides analytical support to R&D, manufacturing,
marketing and sales for ingredients in use across the industries that ISP
supplies.
Responsibilities
1. Analytical method development, validation, ruggedness testing.
2. Support methods transfer activities between one or more sites (includes
experimental design and data analysis).
3. Troubleshoot (determine root cause) method problems using both on-
site and remote technical assistance, determination and implementation of
corrective actions, and evaluate efficacy of solutions.
4. Develop and present training to laboratory personnel (at multiple sites)
to ensure sufficient technical understanding and proficiency to implement
general and specific analytical techniques.
Qualifications
MS with 3 years or BS with 6 years laboratory experience in a modern
industrial analytical laboratory. A Ph.D. with 0-2 years experience can also
be considered. Experience with ICP, AA, ion chromatography,
electrochemistry, wet chemistry, elemental analysis, electrophoresis,
fluorescence spectrometry, electron and optical microscopy,
chromatography, and various spectroscopic techniques desirable. Record
of publication desirable. The candidate must demonstrate good verbal,
written, and interpersonal skills.
Job Descriptions for position # 2:
Overview
The Senior Research Chemist provides analytical support to R&D,
manufacturing, marketing and sales across products and across the
industries that ISP supplies.
Responsibilities
1. Analytical method development, validation, ruggedness testing.
2. Support methods transfer activities between one or more sites (includes
experimental design and data analysis).
3. Troubleshoot (determine root cause) method problems using both on-
site and remote technical assistance, determination and implementation of
corrective actions, and evaluate efficacy of solutions.
4. Supervise solution polymer properties lab and thermal and rheological
testing lab.
5. Provide support to R&D, manufacturing, QA/QC in the need for polymer
characterization.
Qualifications
Four years extensive experience in a modern industrial analytical
laboratory; post-doctoral experience can be considered. A solid
background (including Ph.D) in analytical chemistry or polymer science
with record of publication is needed. Intensive expertise in the
characterization of polymer solution properties required, including dilute
solution viscosity, polymer colligative properties, GPC, light scattering,
LC/MS, or MALDI. Experiences in spectroscopic, thermal and rheological
characterization techniques desirable. Good verbal, written, and
interpersonal skills needed.
