Re: [ladcp] LinkQuest ADP [was: More about the BB150]

Ricardo,

I have had brief contact with Linkquest, with the idea to test their instrument for lowering. However, we could not come to a mutually beneficial agreement, since they wanted to sell me the instrument and have me test it for free. With limited resources I could not take this risk. As far as I am aware, no-one else is working with them to develop an instrument for lowering ... ?

Hi all:

In a few weeks we will open a bid to acquire a couple of Doppler
profilers. We have been using RDI instruments for LADCP use since 2004,
and although they have been sometimes problematic due to the strong
pressure cycling, support offered both by this group and by RDI has
encouraged us to continue trusting this firm. Recently we came across
LinkQuest currentmeters (http://www.link-quest.com/html/models_fq.htm).
Besides being located in San Diego, this company and its instruments
seem to share many similarities with the RDI counterparts. I guess the
pricing will be much more convenient than these, for which I guess they
will be in good position for the bid. Do any of you have any
experience/feelings with the LinkQuest currentmeters, not only for LADCP
applications, but also in moorings/other uses?

Best regards,

Ricardo.

Thanks Lisa. Considering the problems we already have with RDI instruments, the fact that the LinkQuest has not yet tested theirs for LADCP is discouraging -...

Ricardo, You will have to ask LinkQuest whether they have a means of synchronizing the pings from a pair of instruments. (If you got a 150-kHz instrument, then...
