The Lake Whatcom Reservoir is the drinking water source for Bellingham and adjacent areas, over 90,000 people, yet it is not protected from pollution. Development in the watershed contributes to water pollution and must be curtailed. Incidents of toxic and biological contamination have happened, degrading the water quality and endangering public health. It is now listed as an "impaired waterbody" by the State, and our local jurisdictions are under orders to meet the pollution-load TMDL limits. Logging continues but must be ecologically managed - no clearcuts. This group fosters, and topics are limited to, frank discussion of these concerns and actions to resolve them, immediately if prudent, fairly, definitively, and economically. This group is non-partisan - everybody needs clean water.
