Welcome to Learn the Net News.

Intranets provide an easy way for people within a company to exchange information. They’re especially useful for businesses with a number of offices or employees that work remotely. It used to be fairly expensive to set one up, so large corporations primarily used intranets. A new service has changed all that by providing free intranets for small businesses. Find out how to get one for your business: http://www.learnthenet.com/english/features/larry.htm

Let’s face it, traveling by plane these days has become a pain in the you-know-where. Between the overcrowded flights, cramped seats, and bad food, I’ve come to dread air travel. This summer marks an all-time low in service, especially for those flying United Airlines. Living in San Francisco, one of United’s hubs, there’s no alternative but to fly this carrier on many routes. United has canceled hundreds of flights this month and plans to cancel thousands more in September, stranding hapless passengers all around the world. Of course United is not alone in the cancellation department.

One way to avoid spending hours in a dreary terminal is to check on your flight status before you depart for the airport. Many airline websites now provide this service. Just click on the flight status link, then enter the flight number to find out when (or if) it’s scheduled to depart. It’s much faster than trying to get through on the telephone and it’s available 24-hours a day. You can also do the same thing to check on arrival times.

CNN has a flight tracker for more than 750 airlines at http://cnnfn.cnn.com/services/travelcenter/advanced.html

For flight information on all airlines between major U.S. cities, try Flight Tracker at http://www.thetrip.com/ft/home/0,2096,1-1,00.shtml

Happy Trails!
