Last year, one of the biggest problems faced by e-tailers was delivering purchases on time. A number of sites failed to live up to their promises, leaving some mighty unhappy customers on Christmas Day. Although they claim to have learned from past experience, only time will tell if the problem has been corrected. To avoid disappointment, start your online shopping early.
Despite the demise of many high profile dotcom companies, there are still thousands to choose from. Before you shell out your hard-earned money, here’s our advice:
*Shop with businesses you already know and trust.
*Pay by credit card for the same protection you have when shopping in the real world.
*Don't send your credit card number by e-mail.
*Be skeptical of deals that appear too good to be true. They probably are.
*Check the shipping costs, which could make the total purchase price more than what you would pay in a retail store.
*Print a copy of your order for your records.
Finally, while many of us will be enjoying a delicious feast on Thursday in celebration of Thanksgiving, there are millions of people around the world--most of them children--who will go to bed hungry. Even more shocking, 24,000 people will die from malnutrition. You can help feed them, at no cost to you, by visiting the Hunger Site [
http://www.thehungersite.com/]. When you click on the "Donate Food" button, one of the site’s sponsors makes a contribution to the food fund. The site generates over 2.5 million cups of food each week. It’s a very worthy cause that makes innovative use of the Net. Please take the time to pay a visit. And don’t forget to click!------------------------------------------------
