This week I’d like to share a new site with you. As someone who travels quite a bit, I’m always searching for the best airfares. Typically, I start at the United Airlines site, as it has the most flights from the Bay Area. It also lists the fares of a few other carriers as well. Depending on my destination, I next search other airline sites. But a new site, FareChase [
http://www.farechase.com/ ], does a lot of the work for you. Type in your point of departure, your destination and your travel dates and FareChase hunts down a selection of fares. It’s similar to comparison shopping sites like My Simon, but with airfares and hotels.I gave it a try the other day to see what it will do. My first caveat is that the site is quite slow, so be patient. After you begin your search, go have a cup of coffee! The delay may have to do with the information gathering it does from the airlines. With the thousands of fares out there, pricing a flight is much more complicated than pricing a DVD player.
The good news is that the information is accurate. After I got the results, I went to the airline websites to verify them and the numbers agreed. So the service certainly saved me time in the long run. Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Happy Holidays.
