Think you know the Net? Then you should have no problem acing our Internet quiz. So grab your mouse and see if you make the grade at
http://www.learnthenet.com/english/quiz/01quiz.htmLast month, the clothes dryer died. My first thought was to call a repairperson, but before I picked up the phone, I went online to see if I could diagnose the problem. What I discovered was this week’s CoolTool, RepairClinic.com. The site identifies common appliance malfunctions, advises on repairs and even lets you order replacement parts:
http://www.learnthenet.com/english/features/cooltool.htmWhile ink jet printers may be just fine for home use or a small office, if you do a lot of printing, you can’t beat a laser printer. Our personal technology wizard, Larry Magid, reviews two new ones from IBM and Brother:
http://www.learnthenet.com/english/features/larry.htmA good use of your printer could be to print some of the literary jewels that can be mined online for free. For instance, you can find works by Shakespeare, Homer, Kipling and hundreds of other writers. Our Classic Literature Web Tour highlights some of the richest sites:

A few weeks ago we received a question from a reader who asked us about e-mail spying. He had heard from a friend that if a message was forwarded, the person who originated the message could collect the addresses. While this was news to us, it didn’t seem out of the realm of possibility, although we weren’t sure how it could be done. A recent article in the New York Times reveals the ugly truth about so-called e-mail wiretapping. Not only can addresses be collected, but any messages you send can also be read.
Your correspondence can be spied on by unscrupulous folks who insert a few lines of computer code, known as JavaScript, into an HTML e-mail, It’s a relatively easy thing to do and unfortunately, it’s difficult to prevent, but it can be done. Take the time to read the full story at
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/02/05/technology/05JAVA.html. By understanding how this ploy works, you may prevent your privacy from being compromised.------------------------------------------------
