Hello Lebeau-Software subscriber,
First, let me just say that there are no new versions available at this time
for any of my projects, however I would just like to let you know what's on
the horizen for upcoming versions coming soon:
ICQLaunch -
I will be adding a new "Create Shortcut" wizard to the Settings window of
the next version of ICQLaunch, to help in easing the creation of Start Menu
and/or Desktop shortcuts for use with ICQLaunch. I came up with this idea
when a user I recently chatted with was having some difficulties. He didn't
understand how to add the command-line parameters when creating the
shortcuts. This feature is geared more towards those users who could use a
little help creating shortcuts, but I'm sure some of you power-users may
like this feature as well.
TRegExtension VCL for C++ Builder 3 and 4 -
I will be adding a new property editor to the next release of TRegExtension.
This will allow for creating and configuring file extensions at design-time
instead of having to do it all by code at run-time. This way, you will only
need to include 1 single line of code (at minimum) to your code now to
register the extensions you make at design time. I'm sure this feature will
be greatly welcomes, especially by those who maintain multiple extensions
with this component.
TICQProtocol VCL for C++ Builder 3 and 4 -
Development of this component has been set back a little bit. My previous
attempt at this component was using Version 2 of the ICQ Protocol (and
worked just fine). I recently tried to upgrade the component to Version 5
of the protocol when implementing new features, and the component stopped
working now, it won't even connect to the ICQ servers correctly anymore (the
data packets to be sent to the server are not being formed correctly). So,
I may have to go back to implementing Version 2 code for a little while so I
can get the component working again before I can then progress forward to
add more features. I'll let you know how it goes...
In addition, when TICQProtocol is working again, I'll also start work on
using it to make a simple ICQ client clone for the Windows platform. I'm
thinking of making the program small enough to run on a floppy disk (for
easy portability and no installation needed) yet can use all of the most
popular and widely-used features of ICQ (messages/url, file transfers, and
chats).
That's it for now. Until next time...
