The gearbox is sealed and does not require any maintenance (if fact I would
discourage you from opening it, at all). The wheel bearings are also sealed, I
think.
Only the chain requires periodic cleaning, lubrication and re-tensioning. If
worn, replace the chain and make sure you use a roller chain, not an "o-ring"
chain as the o-rings add significantly to the friction and will greatly diminish
range and may overheat the motor/controller.
As for controller and motor heating --- the older controllers used large boxes
with lots of heat-sink capacity. We added fans to the newer controllers because
the power circuitry was more dense and the controller power was also increased
.... those fans had a thermostatically-controlled fan switch based upon surface
temperature of the controller (I think it was about 125 F? - it may say in the
owner's manual)
In any event, you probably do not need to worry about adding a fan. The
controller does have internal circuitry to prevent over heating ... power will
be reduced if temperature gets too high.
The key to keeping everything cool is to make sure (1) tires are properly
inflated, (2) chain is properly lubricated and tensioned, (3) brakes are not
rubbing, and, of course, not maxing out the power too much (lots of hill climbs
or high-speeds) ! Also, while "regen" braking is neat --- it is not very
efficient and can cause controller heating... it's always best to coast, as
gently as practical, to stops.
Yes, a VIN ending in 0019 means it was the 19th Lectra built.

I think another owner found some replacement part number --- search this
discussion and you may find it.... if you do, let me know and I'll add it to the
Lectra Support page at www.ElectricMotorbike.org
