EMB Motor   Message List

Hi all. I work as an intern in a silicon valley startup and I've come across an
old EMB motor in my work. The only identification it has on it besides the EMB
logo is "PP1-09" on the gearbox. I would think it is the VR24 motor described on
the website but it looks sort of different than the mechanical schematic. It has
a small hp HEDS-5640 encoder on the gear box side and 8 poles on the motor side.
Does each of these poles correspond to one tooth in the stator? Or perhaps each
pair of poles corresponds to a stator tooth? I'm just trying to figure out how
this motor is 2-phase. Furthermore, I'm trying to rig up the motor to run on a
dynamometer but I can't seem to get the shaft to rotate at all. Anyone know
where I can find an easily integrated controller/inverter? I would appreciate
any ideas or knowledge about this motor that is not already on
electricmotorbike.org

Thanks!

Harry Wornick

24 VDC, nominal -- I think the operable range was 18-30 volts. Peak power is 8hp, 3HP continuous....
