It's time (past time, actually) to start discussing when to hold
Lemurcon this year. I have not yet gotten in touch with the Lemur
Center, but wanted to get some idea of good/bad dates for
potential attendees.
September has generally worked out well for us (last year's
tropical storm notwithstanding), so I'm thinking in that timeframe
again. Unfortunately, there seem to be some obstacles. Here's a
rundown of my thought process:
Fall classes begin 24 Aug. Earlier dates may be possible, but
researchers may be unavailable to discuss their work.
28-30 Aug - Some chaos from beginning of semester, but possible.
4-6 Sep - Labor Day weekend. Is this good or bad?
11-13 Sep - No known conflict.
18-20 Sep - I am unavailable this weekend.
25-27 Sep - I am unavailable this weekend.
2-4 Oct - Founders' Day; campus crawling with parents, hotel
rooms hard to get.
9-11 Oct - If weather is exceptionally cool, lemurs may have been
brought inside by now?
Generally the lemurs are inside around mid-October, which is a lot
less interesting than visiting them out in the natural habitat
enclosures.
Again, the above comments don't reflect any conflicts that Ken or
the Lemur Center might have. I'm getting in touch with them now.
Please chime in!
