I recently came upon a flyer from a group called Canada
Court Watch which is also arguing to ensure the right to
tape record for one's private notes. They're at
http://www.canadacourtwatch.com
Their pamphlet says:
"Recording your own court hearing is YOUR RIGHT! In Ontario.
Don't allow your rights to be ignored and trampled upon
because of your fear of demanding them. Recording your court
hearing will help your access to justice by making the
system more affordable, efficient, transparent and far more
accountable to the public.
JCT: In Quebec, you can buy copies of the tape for a
pittance and get it that or the next day. For sure, it was
easy and it was useful.
info@... is being sent a note to visit and
read about Terry's appeal of the judge's refusal to let him
tape record his hearing at
yahoogroups.com/group/turmel/messages/3459
yahoogroups.com/group/turmel/messages/2710 is my letter to
Ontario's Chief Justices of the Court of Appeal, Superior
Court and Provincial Court demanding judges be taught about
Section 136. Seems that lesson must still be in the works.
So we are going for a declaration that can be useful for all
Ontario residents to prevent judges from denying our right
in the future. Maybe they'd like to intervene? I'd welcome
more argument cinching this right once and for all.
So this is an invitation to the canadacourtwatch.com
organisation to take the opportunity to join Terry's claim
for a declaration of right to tape record.
They can probably to do this by applying to intervene before
Justice Durno on Aug 8 when a date for the hearing a is set.
A few weeks could be allocated for the exchange of Factums
with the Crown with a hearing right after.
