ATTN: Lex users and librarians
SUBJECT: Printing subject index
The letter below was received asking how to print a list of subject headings
in use. That can be done in different ways in Lexifile (DOS program) and
LexWin (Windows)
Lexifile, Method 1
>>>.SAVE .LIST s=
This will save all your subject headings as they appear on screen, but will
show duplicates. Open the file you save in a word processor, clean up the
list and print.
Lexifile, Method 2
>>>.SAVE .SCAN s=
This will save the subject headings from the index. Long subject headings
will be shortened, and the subject text will be all capitalized.
LexWin
From the search screen, click on "select all records" and choose "by
subject." Then click on Edit--Select all, and then File-Export/Save and
then select "list" and "selected records". Edit the file you save in a word
processor and format the material to soot. Note that there will be
duplicates in this list.
Hope this assists,

Hi Jim,
I would like to know if there is a way of printing the subject index
directly from the
lexifile program in the same manner as you can print the author and title
listings.
Also I am having problems deleting a marc record. I first search for the
marc record
by typing in b= (barcode #) to pull up the specific item to be removed. I
have been
successful in the past by typing in rem. (barcode # for specific item) in
removing the
item permanently from the database and then packing the index. What am I
doing wrong?
Thanks,
