ATTN: Lex Users and Librarians
SUBJECT: Eliminate category of item or patron record
If you want to eliminate a SET of records the trick is to find a way
to search for 100% of the records, then use the REMOVE command on the
whole set.
In Lexwin:
1. Search for the item
2. eg 1 eliminate set of all records containing patron division 14
3. Click P to activate patron file
4. Determine where division is located by looking at MARC reocords
001 lex 000001
005 200110171410
010 $f104247
100 $aStack$bRoberta
220 $aBox 2026$eFrontier, Sask.$hS0N
310 $h14 <--Division 14 is in field 310, contains $h14
5. Search for all such records. In this case the field 310 is not an
indexed field, so we search using the MARC tag.
6. Type in at the word search prompt:
Search:[ 310=$h14 ](you could search for 310=14, but that is
more likely to get false hits)
7. Check the items on the hit list to make sure they are all the ones
you wish to eliminate.
8. Click on an item in the list. Then click on EDIT-Select all.
9. Click on TOOLS-REMOVE (items will "grey out")
10. Click on TOOLS-PACK and in the dialog box
Set (.) Regular pack
Click on (.) Save Removed records
Click on [START PACK]
This should eliminate all the records necessary.
