SUBJECT: List of your subject headings
A question arose:
Is there a way to print a subject index from Lexifile? I know I can access
it via F4 when imputting data, but would like to have a hard copy of that
index, showing each subject and the number of entries.
Thanks for any help you can provide.
There are two answers.
1. If you want a clean looking list of subject headings, but don't mind
duplicates
In LexWin, click on SEARCH--SELECT ALL RECORDS--BY SUBJECT
Then FILE--SAVE-RECORDS 1- <End>
Use your word processor to edit and print the file you saved.
2. If you want a "deduplicated list" but don't mind if it is all in caps,
and don't mind the long subject headings truncated:
Use the DOS version, and type in
>>>.SAVE .SCAN s=
This will save a copy of the subject index
If you don't have the DOS version, download it and install it to a new
directory. OPEN your existing loc.fil with the command
>>>.OPEN c:\lex\loc.fil (use appropriate path to your database)
