J2J Creative offers virtual office management solutions for anyone who
is looking to get their time back. We can manage your schedule,
prepare presentations and expense reports, even coordinate birthday

My name is Shana, and I have been in the administrative profession for over 10 years now, holding down various positions across the spectrum from Admin Support to Office Manager.
For roughly the last 8 years, my administrative focus has been on the field of Commercial Architecture and Construction, providing project administration during design, bidding, construction, and closeout. I love it, and hope to partner with more Architects (or General Contractors) in the future! If I have a specialty, I guess that's it - though I think my experience in that type of project administration would transfer to any other field as well, so I'm not limiting myself.
My "virtual" experience started about 5 years ago, when I became a remote ministry administrator helping one ministry with their website and just coordinating email and other misc. tasks on a regular basis. This is an on-going volunteer position of course, but definitely helped introduce me to working remotely. I have now incorporated this type of service into my biz as well, so I look forward to helping other organizations out there that need an extra hand!
About 6 months ago, when my family relocated from NC to CO, I decided at that time operating an official VA biz is something I desired, so that's what I'm doing.
Anyway, that's probably the short version of some of my background that I thought I would share with you! :) I look forward to connecting with everyone - and thanks to Angela for putting the notice on LI! I'm a new member there, so my connections are small at the moment, but I am open to making new ones!

Hello,
I have been a legal assistant for over 14 years and have loved every minute of it! After working in a large firm, I recognized the calling for virtual assistants in the legal profession and decided to branch out on my own. With my husband in the Army, we hope the VA business takes off so he doesn't feel guilty about moving me around the country every couple of years! I have been working as a VA for a couple of months and would like to expand my client base. I have recently become a Certified Professional Legal Secretary which requires me to keep up with my continuing legal education every year so I stay on top of the ever-changing legal profession. Let me do the mundane tasks so you can focus on the profitable ones.
The value of connections - because someone through a network knew I'd written a book and they knew someone else who needed someone quickly to replace a sick person, I was asked to participate in a Web TV interview with just 2 days notice. In this case it wasn't a LinkedIn connection but another business network I belong to. But it does show the value of connections and getting to know people and what they do, what they are interested in and so on. So important.
Two weeks ago I was interviewed about my new book and about my industry.
I thought you might like to see it - click on the photo of the lady in the orange shirt on the link below.
Join the VA networks Jennifer. They not only have you mixing and mingling
with existing VAs (as will happen here very soon too), they also provide a
web listing for you, direct client contact through requests for work to be
done, and many other benefits too. At places like Craigslists you're going
to be competing with non-skilled persons with computers who charge very
cheap rates. Better you're mixing with the professionals, learning from
them and picking up work from clients who are already used to this way of
working.
I also promote online via my website, business forums and articles for
publications, as well as via advertising mediums like the Yellow Pages in my
country (Australia), plus I go to business networking meetings and meet
other business owners who may have need of my services. Business cards to
give out are a definite need for this type of networking.
I belong to these networks listed below but you'll find more listed at

Any help would be useful.

Hello Angela and everyone.
I'm based in Melbourne, Australia and began my business in March 1994. Prior
to that I'd been working as a PA to senior executives for around 20 years.
I began working at home to be there for our five daughters - the eldest one
was just reaching highschool and no longer eligible for After School Care
Programs here and I didn't want her home alone or on the streets.
So I was in business when the VA industry began globally (and I founded it
here in Australia), adopted that term fairly quickly - by that time I
already had a small team of homebased operators like me around Australia
with a member in the US and it's just gone from there. Today I have a team
in 16 countries - we just opened in Brazil this week with a LinkedIn
connection!
My first degree contacts are less than yours Angela but still sizeable and
I'm just over the 5Mill mark for total connections.
I do welcome invitations to linkedin@... but please do introduce
yourself and say where you found me - I don't accept canned invitations from
names I don't recognise - too many people are so keen to just add numbers
and I like to know I'm thought of as a person.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

First of all, welcome to those who have already joined this group.
I'm Angela, based in Derbyshire in the East Midlands in the UK, and have
been a P.A. since 1995. In my current job, I'm P.A. to the group's Managing
Director, and am also the Project Co-ordinator where I am in charge of
several recruitment databases and the group's various websites.
I began working in admin during summer vacations whilst I studied for a
degree (1987 onwards), and started full-time work as an Admin Assistant in
1991 after graduating. I've worked in various roles in the water industry,
an environmental regulatory body, two universities, an engineering firm, a
seaport and two management consultancies, and have spent the last 12 years
working directly for Chief Executive / Managing Director / Deputy Vice
Chancellor roles.
My current employers are CNA International (www.cnainternational.co.uk), and
in my spare time I'm in a band (www.myspace.com/mainstreetuk).
On my LinkedIn profile, I've got over 2860 first degree contacts, and am
linked to approximatly 6.6 million of the 14 million LinkedIn users. My aim
is for this group to be a place where PAs, EAs and VAs and all others in
Administration can learn, share, help each other and grow.
