There is a project on sourceforge already that trys to use and approach
like the one you described, but note that it is entirely on italian...

I was thinking about using also a client/server approach using
C/GTK+/MySQL. But I believe that doing it this way it would be a lot more
time consuming. I think that what we could do then is have 2 interfaces, a
web interface and a regular program and both would be able to co-exist,
using the same framework on the backend.
But before actually starting to develop the application it is necessary to
know exactly what are the software requirements. That is, what should, has
to, doesnt' have to go into the program. Also subdivide the program into
small tasks such as scheduling, patient profiles, payments, etc.
It would be nice having all of that before code starts to be written.
