The person will have the opportunity to lead a development team that
is inventing radical new features to revolutionize the Personal
Computing experience by leveraging Virtualization technology,
providing instant-on, always available and secure computing platforms.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can manage a
team of senior software professionals, as well as contribute to
execution. The team consists of top-notch systems people, working on
developing a hypervisor and compact Linux kernel.

The development Manager needs work with a thorough grasp of
hardware/software interfaces and operating system internals. He will
work with software architects or other managers who are fluent with
cutting edge technology, working on analysis and implementation of
Virtualization features underneath standard operating systems, dealing
with core kernel features, in rapid development paradigm.
Development Manager will collaborate and coordinate programs with
other teams worldwide. This position will work closely with the office
of the CTO, on a project that has the focus of the top management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinate the design, development, release and maintenance of
software for multiple Client platforms.
• Manage multiple development projects with aggressive
schedules in a fast-paced work environment. Additionally, coordinate
local development and integration activities with other leadership
team members at Phoenix development centers in USA.
• Work closely with cross-functional management teams to balance
features, functionality, reliability and time to market.
• Ensure that software releases meet market windows and satisfy
customer expectations.
• Provide general architectural leadership in the design,
implementation, and integration of software modules for various
platforms
• Work closely with Product Line Management and Systems
Engineering teams in defining product strategy.

• Develop a strong focus on quality, on time delivery and
framework development processes on software team.

• Perform other managerial duties, including staffing,
performance management and working with individual managers and
engineers for career management.

• Willing to travel to Phoenix R&D centers for leadership and
planning meetings.

Skills
• Knowledge and experience in Linux kernel software design and
development is required.

• Planning and successfully executing large-scale kernel based
platform development projects.

• Practical experience managing complex software development
efforts through the complete product life cycle, including post-
production support.

• Experience in kernel programming and Linux device drivers is a
must. Strong understanding of Operating System areas like process
management, signals, scheduling, synchronization, interrupt handling,
file systems, device drivers etc

• Knowledge of SMP/NUMA architectures

• Use of various tools like debuggers, compilers/assembler,
editor and familiarity with shell scripting Strong programming
background in C and familiarity with assembly language.
• Knowledge of any one CPU architecture (x86, PowerPC etc)
• Advanced programming skills in C/C++ and very good problem
solving skills needed

• X86 architecture + assembly language skills is a huge plus.

• Soft skills (good communication, team player, oral and written
skills, etc) needed.
