could not be sent for various reasons, including problems with Yahoo Groups.

1. DivX 5.0 Release

DivX 5.0 is now available for download. There has been many changes,
although it will still be familiar to those who have worked with the DivX
4.x codec.

There are now 3 different versions of the codec : standard, "Pro with ads"
and "Pro without ads". Only the "Pro without ads" version will cost you
anything to download. The ad is required to pay for MPEG-4 licensing costs.

New features includes enhanced MPEG-4 playback and encoding (Pro version
only) support (output to MP4, but no audio support), temporal and spatial
noise reduction (Pro version only), psychovisual modeling (removing data
the human visual system can't detect to reduce file size, just like what
MP3 does with audio) and more ... there are lots of new terms and
technologies to learn, so reading up on the official DivX guide may be
necessary.
