1. DVDR-Digest.com's Grand Opening

In issue 31, I mentioned briefly that 2003 will be a good year for
DVD recording. This is partly the reason that I have decided to
launch a brand new website dedicated to the world of DVD recording.
This new site is called DVDR Digest!!

This is the first time since June 2000 that Digital Digest has
launched a new sub-site (the last time being DivX Digest, the larges
Digital Digest sub-site and one of the largest DivX sites in the
world). Currently, DVDR Digest features all of the DVD recording
related content that used to be on DVD Digest, plus some new content
I've written especially for the new site (an introductory article to
DVD writing, and two reviews for DVD recorder drives). DVDR Digest
will not only feature computer based DVD recording content, but also
those dealing with standalone recorders, which still needs some time
to reach the mainstream market.

The new site is based entirely on PHP and MySQL, which I had been
unable to use on prior sub-sites, mainly because I didn't know how to
and also technical reasons (having changed to dedicated hosting only
after DivX Digest was launched, hence, no PHP/MySQL support available
on our old server). This should, hopefully, make site updates a lot
easier than before, which is always a good thing.

To coincide with the launch of DVDR Digest, I've also re-organized
the forum somewhat by adding a new DVD Recording topic, plus two new
forums, DVD Backup and DVD Recording Hardware :
