Does anyone know how to initialize a Roland D50 synth? I suddenly can't
acess any sounds at all and the display has gone bananas.
I got help with this many years ago and I've searched the group but didn't
find anything. Someone please!

You're right, but I think that only works with songs that have been digitally
coded......thats how iPhone tells what the song is. Same thing thats in your
AM/FM radio, it tell you the name of the song.

I'm finding that I need a solution for my sounds. When I'm working on a project,
I need a "bassy piano" sound or a "wind fx" sound, and I can't always remember
which synth and which patch I like.

Right now I'm writing stuff done, but thats getting a little old.

Basically I need a database where I can assign Absynth Patch#34 "Alienpiano"
with the keywords "piano, bass, weird", so that when all my sounds are in there,
all I have to do is type in a keyword, and whichever patches have that keyword,
will show up in a results list.

I know I can do this with Bento 2, but I have to create it from scratch, which
would be difficult.

What is everybody else using?

Thanks

Chaz

Q. I have heard that Totally Guitars is going to be offering different kinds
of online guitar lessons. Can you tell me a little more about them?

A. Hey, thanks for asking. As a matter of fact, that’s just a small part of
what we are trying to offer at Totally Guitars. We plan on having lots of
different resources for guitar players and musicians in general. A few of
the things we are excited about are online guitar lessons, written articles
explaining lots of musical mysteries, concert videos of some of our favorite
performers and instructors, as well as an entirely interactive musical
community where all are welcome.

We are planning and shooting lots of instructional videos and would love any
and all input from our viewers as to what kinds of things you might be
interested in.

There are lots of other articles here about the different types of things we
offer so visit the home page when you can and poke around a bit.

Hi, I recorded and mixed a song, when I play it back on logic the volume
levels seem good in relation to songs I compare it with on itunes, but when
I then bounce the song, in whatever format, it is way too quiet on itunes.
I've tried increasing the master volume so that it is extremely loud on
logic, but the volume is still low on Itunes. I think there must be a
problem with the way I am exporting the song to Itunes, any thoughts..?

Check ITunes>Preferences>Playback>Soundcheck. If it's on, turn it off.
Also "Sound Enhancer".

If I have recorded a G3 on my keyboard, it displays in score after recording. I
can selected that note and drag it to G#3, A1, Bb5 etc......

My mouse is sometimes shaky. Is there any other easier way to change that note
other than to drag it?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Yep - key command. I think option + down (or up) arrow is the default.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forum and hope that my question is relevant, acceptable. (I
found another thread on the topic of ear training, so presuming I'm okay to
be asking this. :)

Does anyone know of any ear training software that runs on the iPhone/iPod
Touch besides Karajan?

I would be interested in your thoughts about the value of such an
application. It would be an application that allows musicians to practice
pitch, interview, chord recognition, and also rhythm reading. Maybe also
you could plug in an instrument (or use the built-in mic) and do some
playing exercises and have pitch, timing, dynamics, etc. analyzed.

I'm thinking it would be quite useful for musicians who ride the bus or ever
find themselves with a few minutes of idle time, and would appreciate the
opportunity to do a bit of ear training on their iPhone/iPod Touch that they
carry around with them everywhere. Just plug in headphones and away you go
...

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Kind regards,

Tim

I'm ocasionally using a BCR2000 (I bought it for live purposes mainly,
but abandonded some ideas I had, so it's basically gathering dust), no
problems so far. The only downside being that their editing software (a
java based thingy) is not working properly under OSX (it does work fine
under Windows), hence editing the settings is a manual adventure in case
you don't have an additional Windows box. But then, I only programmed it
once and it never gave me any problems after that. Might be different
with the BCF as that one needs some feedback from the host (following
the Mackie HU protocol or so).
