The plugin has to be on an INPUT object, not on the track object
you're recording to or on an aux object.
For Input Objects:
Plugins will be recorded destructively and monitored at all times
Sends will be monitored but _not_ while recording that input to any
track (sigh)
For Aux Objects with i/o set to an input:
Plugins will be monitored at all times
Sends will be monitored at all times
Plugins will not be recorded
For Audio Track Objects:
Plugins will be monitored for input signal while track is record-enabled
Sends will be monitored for input signal while track is record-enabled
Plugins will not be recorded
So the only objects that are pre-record are the Input Objects. Put
your plugin on the appropriate Input object (which doesn't need to
have an Arrange track) and record-enable a regular Audio track set to
the same input.
