The gubbins;
Imac, pre-aluminium Intel, 3Go RAM, 500Go ext. hard drive, Logic 8,0,0,
B4-II AU, complete Jam Packs + Jam Pack World. OS 10,4,11 Tiger.
All works / worked flawlessly.
Now - need to take stuff on the road,so invested in a new Macbook with
leopard 10,5
Re installed Jam Packs + B4-II A.U. + World JamPack then Logic - first
nastiness - the 2 Macs using Airport to the Web - Logic doesn't want to
install because it's already installed on another machine on your LAN - Ok -
disconnect Airport on 1 machine and the install gets completed.
Load in the music files.
Then on the Macbook - B4-II can't be found, no tonewheel folder - rubbish -
it's there and FULL.
EXS module can't be found - c'mon it's on another adjacent track and works
fine - looking through the library results in many, many .aifs missing?
Look at Garage band- many instruments missing - update proposed - OK - 1
hour later quite a few of the sounds have reappeared - Why isn't this
proposed under the usual update procedure?
Redownload a demo version of B4-II - that works fine - Ok for 30 days but
not completely satisfied :(
Capslock doesn't make the numeric keys available - spent hours trying to
figure out why my Internet Password wasn't being accepted - a 10 digit HEX
so of course the capital letters were fine, but I wasn't getting any
numbers. Some work-around using 'FN' key and !çàuiojkl as replacements?
Some comments in other forums - "Logic 8,0,0 + 8,0,1 + 8,0,2 + 8,0,3 are
NOT completely compatible with Leopard" - many users reverting to Tiger -
contemplated this, but Apple will not allow downgrading of the OS - the
Tiger Cds were rejected. Need to repartition and install Tiger on a separate
partition and use the dual boot scenario - poo!
I guess the moral here is: If you want to run Logic Pro 8 on a MAC, forget
Leopard, at least at this time of writing - 2008/10 -
All comments welcome.
