Hi Geoff,

The key command works here, just like the menu command.
Have you updated to Logic 8.0.2?
Are you using [Next Channel Strip Setting] or [Previous Channel Strip
Setting] ?
Don't use the key command called [Next Channel Strip or Plug-in
Setting or EXS Instrument] . This does seem buggy and gives
unpredictable results.

Lack of varispeed is certainly a way in which the digital world is
still failing. I really miss that knob! It was instant and creative.
That isn't to say that there aren't a million things that digital
brings to the table - it's just effective varispeed ain't one of them!

Hey guys!

This may be a minor glitch that I haven't been able to figure out as
of yet, but here goes:

I have 2 20" monitors that I run L8 on and I set my autoload up
perfectly the way I want it. I know the design of L8 made the single
window design for those who don't have 2 monitors and that is great
for them but I love the way L7 would open up for me to use both of my
monitors. L8 doesn't do this. I saved my autoload template with my
Arrange on the right monitor and my mixer on the left monitor and my
large transport on the left monitor in the lower section of the mixer
window ( the way any good sensible engineer would of course!;)). After
I had everything setup, I saved my autoload as a template and I expect
that when I open it back up it will open up with the Arrange on the
right etc.... but it opens up in that crappy single window on the left
every time even though I saved the template in two windows!! What's up
with that? Do I have to save my windows as a screenset?

Question: How can I make sure that my autoload opens up in the correct
way I saved it? (minus the crappy single window setup that I never
want to see again!)

Thanks,

Ivan

If midi you must change the midi port so each device send on a different midi

Message posted by desha dunnahoe <desha.dunnahoe@...>:

I do film music and have anywhere from 10 to 30 cues per project. At the
end of each project I want to optimize the audio for each so that the file
sizes are smaller and cleaner, and make a backup of the whole project.

In the past I haven't taken the time - I've just left the files big and
copied the project folder containing all the cues to a back up location.

So now I'm trying to find a way to do this (get rid of unnecessary audio
before archiving) but I haven't found a non-confusing way to do it.

I've tried just deleting unused audio, but the problem is that it is cleaned
up in the audio bin of Logic, but not in the finder folder (unused audio is
still residing there in the "audio" folder), so it's not reducing the file
size of the file I'm going to drag/copy to a second location for backup

I've tried "saving a copy as" to a second location after deleting unused
audio, which does reduce the file size (because only the audio in the audio
bin is copied to the new location) but then the project folder doesn't
contain the bounce folder (where I keep the bounces I've submitted) or the
.bak folder, so I have to manually go copy them from the original cue folder
to the new back up folder sure I've got everything. Tedious and risky.

Is there any less tedious, confusing way to do this?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Christian

I can only presume that you have double-clicked on the *.MID files to
open them, as the default application for this on the Mac is Quicktime
Player. The MIDI data is all there!

What you need to do is to import the MIDI Files into Logic, then clean
them up for your own purposes. Open a new blank song and go to
Command-I to import a MIDI File.

Presuming you're using the latest Logic, you select a track and hit
'E, at which you will see whatever Program Change messages are in the
track, along with MIDI Controller 7 Volume and possibly MIDI
Controller 10 Pan messages. You need to delete these before assigning
your own instrument sounds.

Do you mean soloing tracks in the arrange window or in the
environment? If you solo a track in the environment, you'll also mute
the busses. So once you include a bus in your mix, you'll always need
to solo it with any track you wish to listen to.

If that is the problem, then the I/O plugin doesn't really have
anything to do with it. On the other hand, I have noticed weird
behavior from the I/O plugin itself in Logic 7.0 and 7.2, mostly
after an erroneous setting (like letting it send to a port already
used as output). After I have made a mistake like that, the plugin
usually goes silent and I have to remove and re-insert it to let it
work normally again.

Maurits.

Search the manual for "multiplayer". The key is: Project Settings>

Hi Tony

This is a bug which bugged me for ages after moving to Logic 8 from
7, except in my case it was a "d" which would not stop. In fact, it
kept me from using Logic 8 for anything but some mixing until I found
a solution to the problem.

Try going to your user library/preferences and trashing
com.apple.logic.pro.cs

This is the control surfaces preference file.
Somehow, with Logic 8, the control surfaces preferences file can
assign a note, in your case "e", to be used in a manner other than as
a midi input note. Then Logic does not receive a note off when the
note on your keyboard is released.

Trying to fix the problem made me feel like an idiot, but I found out
that the idiot lives in an Apple.

Well after 5+ years of this being a dream in the back of my mind, I
would like to publicly announce my new web site FIRST to you guys (and
gals) here at the Yahoo Logic group. I've been a member of this group
for well over 10+ years and wanted to "break the wine bottle" on the
bow of this group since this group has been such a valuable resource
to me over the years....

There are so many mind-blowing plug-ins for use but there is not a lot
of support for these plug-ins. Many of these plug-ins are as complex
as hardware synthesizers but even the manufactures provide very
minimal support on how to best optimize these plug-ins. On top of this
fact, the voicing quality found in these plug-ins could be better
(and I'm saying that as politely as I can). After making literally
thousands of patches, drum kits, combinations and other types of
support for way too many synthesizers (both hardware based and
software based - complete list on my site), I wanted to focus some of
my energy to virtual instrument plug-ins - to show you the tricks with
video Power reviews and to make patches that both useful and inspiring
for everybody to be able to work with.

My first Power Review is on Native Instruments FM8. This review has 2
parts - Part one is completed and is more of an overview with tips for
setting up the browser while Part two is about programming FM8. I plan
to have the 2nd part completed by March 10th. I also have 12 free
patches for FM8 that you can download right now for FM8 and 60 more
that are available for purchase. On the FM8 review page, there are
also 6 songs I composed in Logic Pro using only FM8 that show off the
patches I've created for FM8. If you have time, I hope you will check
out my dream turned into reality.

Stylus RMX 1.7 is the next plug-in I will be reviewing and providing
patch/kit/multi support for.

Thank you for letting me share this exciting news with all of you.

Kind Regards,
John "Skippy" Lehmkuhl

Hi Coen,
It took me a very long time to figure this one out...so here's the solution:

1. go into the environment and create an Output Object that corresponds to the
Output(s) that you're using in the I/O plug.
