So, in my opinions it's very unwise and would result in a very lame solution
if you implement I2C without ISR.

have a particular driver in interrupt of poll mode depends on the exact
application. I am not saying you are incorrect but just because you have the
I2C in poll mode does not make the solution lame. Also it depends on how
much data is transferred over the I2C bus.
