There was an episode of NOW on PBS a few months back where an
engineering professor in California argued that taking a flight between San
Fran and LA would be more efficient (both cost wise and time wise) than taking
a “bullet train” that Schwarzennagar was proposing to build.
I’d like to see the numbers though.

Passenger rail is a very fuel efficient way to move people. But of
course fuel consumption goes up fast with speed. On the other hand,
people will pay good money for speed. What do you guys think of the
