I recieve this forums digest because I have had a number of wierd experiences I want a better handle on. I will post about those later.
For now, I noticed some well meaning but frankly bad advise that should be corrected. My qualifications are professional: I work as a security officer and have for a number of years as well as a little millitary experience also during some of my security officer work I have had oppotunity to partcipaitate in a number of arrests while working "colorful neighborhood" housing projects. At the height of that stint we averaged about 2 arrests a week. I know a little about this subject
So there's a new gun shop in my town. The old one moved from the other
location. I'm sure its out of business or something, replaced by a carpet store. Anyway, what I want to do is learn to use 1) taser, 2) mace (well I have some which still smells pretty bad, it keeps well I see), 3) weapons. I know some guns are probably too heavy & would ricochet pretty bad. But well, I have this need to learn how. >Generally: you are allowed to use reasonable and necessary force to prevent robery, or similar levels of violence against yourself and or family (check local laws this varies considerably). Reasonable doesn't include deadly force. Deadly force may only be used to prevent reasonably expected unlawful assaults which reasonably would result in death or grave bodily harm. This usually includes rape, murder, and where I live arson; against yourself or any you are responsible for. Again check your local laws sometimes they are haisplitting, sometimes one may help strangers, sometimes not.
As an example. There was a brutal stabbing of an upand comming actress in the 80s although the name escapes me in New York City or Los Angeles (I don't remember which). I am not thinking of the Kitty Genovese slaying in the 60's. There said to be about 20+ people all in reach and no one intervened. This has been said to be "bystander phenomenon" where everyone waits for someone else to do it. However, the laws of both places are such that if someone had intervened, and inevitably had to fight the psycho and kill him to win the fight, that hero would likely still be in prison as there is no legal protection for intervening with deadly force on behalf of a stranger (or having the means to do so).
You may not use deadly force to defend property. I personally disagree with this as a working poor person who just cashed his paycheck is SEVERLY hurt by that loss. You may defend yourself against a threat of deadly force, you can kill a robber who has a weapon as long as you can cite a reasonable fear. A gun almost always, a knife from 50 feet away probably not, within 21 feet as along as you can cite the concept of the Tueller rule, that a charging man can stab someone within 21 feet of him. If he is MUCH more physically powerful and you REASONABLY believe he intends to seriously harm you.
>1)tasers are only one shot, have an effective range of about 15-20 feet (I know they are adverised as 21+), and even when all otherwise works fine are effective about 83% of the time. If you are face with multiple attackers or one with a ranged weapon (usually gun) even the police go straight to guns unless theyoutnumber the bad guys (and will shoot if a weapon is present even if they do outnumber the bad guys). There are also instances of tasers causing heart attacks and nerve damage so it may be that they are not as nonlethal as billed. 2)mace: is OK as long as you realize the point is to hinder the bad guy so either you can get away or blind him so you can win the fight (you need a real good reason to do this as I will explain later)
3) guns: good idea with some caveats: they are deadly weapons and can legally/ethically be resorted to only when you reasonably believe it is necessary in order to avoid serious unlawful assault (generally in fear of life or limb and includes rape). They are however devices which you must learn to use and be able to get into play durring the assault. This can be had from a number of sources and really needs to be done in person.
3a) also, we sould talk about blades and bludgeons. One point about the law in self defense needs to be pointed out. Many martial arts techniques use the formula of parry, counter, finish (to simplify treatment of many please don't flame me about that). According to a strict interpretation of the law: once one has countered the assault, one is only allowed to continue violence against an attacker as long as he remains an attacker. If at a point in your combat you put him down or he disengages, you are legally required to stop unless you can cite a legally defensible reason not to. Example: he has a gun and is getting space to facilitate shooting you, he disengages and tries to rengage at better tactical position. Most martial artis and many self defense teachers don't seem to have this concept and is the source of many of the instances of someone "going to prison for self defense".
Miscarriages of jusitce are a reality, I know of a couple personally. However, it is usually the defender and attacker have switched places during the combat, i.e. At some point, the bad guy was either disabled or tried to leave and the good guy continued becoming legally the aggressor. Your self defence program must take this reality into account in order to survive the judgement after the action.
4) you must be aware of the threat in order to deal with it. Some means of being alerted to the presence of an attacker before they can surprise you is needed. In the post you responded to, Petrus described sleeping near a doorto wait for the robber. This is a bad idea as the robber will react to your presence before you wake up eough to react to him. You need an alarm and to be a little bit more away from him, like maybe a door or two. This can be tough to impossible if you are in a small apartment, but remember the concept.
Also, I know it sounds crazy and off-the wall but around here it may not be, I want to see Push with Dakota Fanning & that other guy. > I don't know what you mean, I've not seen the movie
This is because I'm interested in some pretty dark stuff like how mentalists can do certain things like brainwash people into buying things, or worse. I'm sure some of the love&light folks would get very antsy if I mention the true nitty-gritty of what I'm getting at here. On the other side, a truly telepathic human culture would suck. What about the weirdness of not having telepathy? Life would be boring if everybody could do everything psychic. > Such things are possible though they are either poo poohed by skeptics, downplayed or distorted by a lot of self styled "light" people. I have had the experience of doing this myself: One night while walking though a parking garage at about 1AM while on patrol I found an American Indian Male suspisciously looking inside various parked cars. I approached him and he initiated a "conversation" beligerantly ranting about how he was oppresses wasn't going to take it anymore and as he was gesticulating wildly I now noticed a knife on the belt of the 6'4", 250 # man (I was 6'0", 190# and wearing a .357 Magnum). As he coninued his rant I realized that if we fought which was likely unless something wierd happened, both of us were likely to be seriously hurt, maybe fatally. I also had the questin as to whether my bosses would actually back me legally/politically in the aftermath. At this point,
something inside me "came to the front" and "mindscanned" (ala Dave Jacobs and Budd Hopkins's description of alien abductions) my antagonist. I did this with the thought that the simplest thing for all was if he went away quietly. He zoned out, then in trance state walked off my post and I never saw him again. I also uncharacteristicly never reported this incident as I didn't know haow to explain the "mindscan", indeed I seem to be blocked at repeating it unless it is a life/death situation.
> I use the term mindscan as shortly after this I had a bizarre dream(?). My memory of this begins as I am standing some distance from a bunch of trailers and near some rocky hills. I am facing a Gray alien. The alien establishes rapport/mindlink with me and then float/flies off. I wait as it is about to do something I am to watch. It then floats above a rock climber and starts to land in front of him, I had the thought that this might startle him into falling off. The alien immediately pulled back up and waited until the climber reached the top and was standing steady. Then it landed in front of him. A cause for doubt of this as real is I then recognized the climber as a celebrity though I will not name him for his privacy's sake. Then while the climber was stunned at the sudden presence the Gray, while still mindlinked with me,
mindscanned him. I have no further memory of this suspected close encounter.
> This appears to be a skill whose primary utility is either predatory or self defense. My assessment currently is that it is usually learned in sort of mind predator practice. I don't know how to teach it. There are however apparently people who do. You might look up John LaTourrette. There are certainly others but he is of of the few I can think of who I know can do it and offers to teach, though at a hefty price tag. There are other citations of people with this kind of ability, read Carla Emory's "Secret Don't Tell" book of hypnotism. In her research she was able to find people with this ability. There are probably other sources, but I am wary of a lot of claims as it is difficult to tell who is for real and who isn't.
> Also, it is possible to create fields that influence people. Several places detail how to do this. It is possible to create fields that influence people (especially those who don't rcognize the possibility that not all their thoughts and feelings are actually theirs) with ideas that: I"I don't want to get caught", "I just to want to relax", "This isn't worth it" from a security type prospective.
Self-protection is still needed either way. Even telepaths get pissed. Can we stop people from using their weapons on us if we mess with their heads? Science fiction has some basis in reality after all! My current experiences with psychokinesis are hard to wrap my mind around but I'll refer to the fact that my glasses are somewhat bent in the middle on the bridge between both eye pieces! I'm thinking that if I am in the middle of an intense psychokinesis episode, I might break them. The truth is that I'm still very frustrated in many areas of my life. > telepaths do get pissed but this tends to be moderated by the strong sense of other. Also, telepaths when pissed tend to use their telepathic projection over physical assault. As for self defense, see above.
>Do you know what is happening inside yourself when you do telekinesis. What is happening enrgetically and psychologically inside youself. I assume you don't know how to control it.
God. Okay, off to fill out job application that is waiting to be filled out. >Good luck Alcira --- In indigo-adults@yahoogroups.com, Jess Me <jessme_2t@...> wrote: > > Petrus, > > I, too kept vigilance all night immediately after the break in.. I slept on a loveseat in a room directly in front of the one the robbers gained entrance into the house. Off and on since childhood, I have slept with a knife under my pillow and I'm quite apt in using it. After the break-in, I just couldn't sleep in my bedroom anymore - part of the reason being that during the robbery, the robbers had upturned my bed, touched my things, pulled my panties and other clothes out of the dresser drawers, etc. The entire house felt violated, my room moreso. I simply couldn't deal with the energy. I dont' know what you're beliefs are, but might I suggest that you do a cleansing on your place with white sage and sage oil. Seal the doors and windows against negative energy/forces/people, and banish the negative energy inside your place with burning (smudging) of the white sage. Only after I'd completed those things did I feel like I'd taken back my house, my power. > > As for arming yourself, hmphft! Petrus, if I had a gun, I'd have my housemate leave home, fake having me with her, and I'd shoot the bastards in the ass when they broke into my place again! As long as I drag em inside - self defense. So, if you know how to make those things (moltove cocktails, mace, etc)...make them and USE THEM. People that violent other people deserve what they get! You're not as defenseless as you think, dude! > > |
