Hello Abbas,
Well Lucknow isn't that forward in this field. You can find a some institutes offering coaching for RHCE but for if you want to learn Linux better surf websites. To begin with, search for linux commands. There is an e-book named "Beginning Linux Programming", download it and start reading. Linux isn't as difficult as it sounds.

NCOSS-09 announces
Demo Hall for Open Source Applications
on 25th - 26th May 2009, Mumbai, India.
ABOUT DEMO HALL
The
National Conference on Open Source Software, NCOSS-09, announces DEMO
HALL for showcasing open source applications. The aim is to provide a
platform for people to demonstrate their open source works/tools to the
world. Irrespective of whether you have a paper at the conference, you
can use this opportunity to showcase your work.
The
application, to be demonstrated, should be an open source application -
i.e., an application which is open source, not just built using/on open
source technologies. The application may be new systems or significant
enhancements to existing open source applications. Adapting and
adopting a collection of open source systems to solve a problem will
also be considered. With lower priority, we will also consider existing
applications with which you have extensive experience that you can
share with the audience. So, if you find, say Moodle, an excellent
learning management system and you have used it extensively, you could
offer to demonstrate it, to spread awareness of such applications.
All
those participating in the demo-hall must register for the conference.
The demo hall will have demonstrations slotted for half an hour each.
The demo-hall will run in parallel with the conference paper
presentation, excluding the plenary sessions. The slot allocations will
be done by the conference organisers, considering the topic of the demo
and other parallel events likely at that time.
If you are interested in participating, mail your applications to ncoss@...
giving a brief description of the demo sessions. Last date for
submitting your 'Demo Hall' entries: May 05, 2009. According to its
relevance to the conference and other constraints, we will short-list
entries from received applications. The list of demo-hall entries will
be announced periodically, adding new entries subject to availability
of slots. So apply early...

The movement of Software Freedom started with the establishment of 'The Free Software Foundation (FSF)' in 1984 by MIT hacker Richard M. Stallman. The FSF advocates the software user's freedom to study and modify any program as well as redistribute its original or modified copies. FSF focuses on a completely free software system from kernel to applications and it rejects any component of the system which is non-free. FSF released the 'GNU General Public License (GPL)' for the users of 'free software'. As a UNIX like OS, GNU/Linux distributions and the freedom of open source provide an excellent academic and research opportunity. Each application is available in source form and the author as well as the user community can be contacted online.
'GNU/Linux User Group(GLUG) - Meerut' is a GNU/Linux software user's platform to meet, discuss and innovate with other users and developers. GLUG-Meerut is the first gnu.org registered GLUG of entire UP and only the nineteenth one in India. We have helped establish the standard GNU/Linux software as part of engineering curricula in CS & IT. We also help FM Radio station at IIMT Meerut to migrate from properietary software to public domain software 'AUDACITY' released under the 'GNU General Public License (GPL)'.
Now, the efforts of GLUG-Meerut have been appreciated by Dr. Richard Stallman (the founder of 'Software Freedom Movement' from MIT, USA) as "Happy Hacking and thanks for defending the freedom in Meerut" at JNU, New Delhi on 21-12-2008. GLUG-Meerut has invited Dr. Stallman for a visit to Meerut - "The City of Freedom" - the city of 1857 war of Indian Independence which laid the seeds of the rising Indian self reliance culminating into modern Indian nation.
GLUG-Meerut community welcomes all GNU/Linux enthusiasts of Meerut and beyond. We intend to organize various workshops, seminars and conferences for proliferation of GNU/Linux philosophy of software freedom all over the western UP region and beyond. Anyone can freely join GLUG-Meerut on 'groups.google.com/group/glug-meerut'.
The GNU/Linux User Group (GLUG) - Meerut is organizing a special three day (09-01-09 to 11-01-09) GNU/Linux Software Development Workshop 'FOSSTIVAL 2009' at IIMT Engineering College, Meerut. Our target audience is the pre-final and final year CS/IT/MCA students who will bring their GNU/Linux laptops to get hands on training covering the LAMP(Linux-Apache-MySQL-PHP) spectrum in a rapid round of three days.
GLUG Meerut is associated with various GNU/Linux community enthusiasts of India including ILUG-Delhi, CDAC-NOIDA and NRCFOSS,Chennai. GLUG community is open for all GNU/Linux enthusiasts of Meerut and beyond. We aim to inculcate the spirit of innovation with cooperation as per the ethics of 'Software Freedom Movement' among the students and professionals of the city and beyond. Anyone can freely join GLUG-Meerut on 'groups.google.com/group/glug-meerut'.
The workshop will have sessions on GNU/Linux System Programming & Web Development (ABCD of Web Tech, PHP & Python, Apache, MySQL, Mainstream Web Applications & Projects). There will be special sessions for faculty members introducing to free software packages for system management like Drupal etc. The sessions will be taken by the hackers from wide spectrum of GNU/Linux Community of North India.
We cordially invite you to participate in FOSSTIVAL 2009. The registration is open till 05-01-2009. The registration fees will be Rs. 360 and Rs. 600(includes lodging & food) for local and outstation candidates respectively.

With warm regards,
NCOSS team
i did configure NIS server on one computer
and exports users " user1,user2,user3" home directory.
from client side by automounter file i was trying to mount /home/user1
on /home/network/user1
but after mounting it was giving the error no such home directory
and using / as a home directory.
what was the cause .
any solution.
if suppose we have to configure the sendmail such as every user
receive his mail in his home directory and a copy of every mail should
be sent to root account.
how can we solve this problem
*/10 * * * * /bin/date

Yes one can do it by using the appropiate parameters and also giving
the path date command like /bin/date if its placed in /bin folder

There are total six columns.
LABEL=/ / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
Column 1= Device name
Column 2= Mount Point
Column 3= File System type
Column 4= Options
Column 5= Defines dump
Column 6= Defines fsck program.
0=Skip, 1=First, 2=Second AIUI no other values are used.
Values of 5th column is used by dump, which can be used by debugging
programs.
Values of sixth field is used by fsck program to determine the file
system check at reboot time. For the entry of 0 fsck bypasses the file
system check.
root file system should be prioritized with numeric value 1, while
other file systems should have 2.

Hi, This is my first posting in the forum. I'll like to have a group of like minded fellows who'll be interested in implementing purely linux based educational project in remote schools of UP. First such project is already functional. You may visit:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=612364
to have more information. Obviously this project is not that grand when we compare it to OLPC, in fact it is very small one. But personally I feel that by community involvement a lot can be done following this model. I invite you all. All we need is determination, commitment and a desire to serve.

It is not necessary to configure a dhcp for network installation of linux.

1)service portmap start
2)service nfs start

if you want to allow root to perform rw on nfs then use
(no_root_squash,rw,sync)

1). are you able to ping nfs server (to-from)?
2). check /etc/hosts file.
3). check firewall
4). check SELinux.
if that didn't worked, send.
a) your hosts file
b) logs of the duration when you restart your nfs service from
terminal. (/var/log/messages)
c) logs when you try to mount nfs share on client. (/var/log/messages)

Premchand,
Firstly when u narrate a prob. please write each specific point which
u understand from the prob n secondly try to copy the logs n the exact
error which is printed that will be of great help.....
U hve started the iptables and blocked the nfs port thats why you r
facing this kind of prob. and secondly u hven't set the Boolean or
rite context due to which u r facing this prob ok.. firstly set the
correct SELINUX index over the shared folder and check for the boolean
value of the shared location. Now for iptables check wether u hve
allowed the port used by nfs to allow and accept the traffic. When u
leave the default options for the iptables during installation then
there wud b no prob regarding this.

i was told in my previous post"use of iptables in the exam" that u are
not allowed to use iptables in the exam.
i faced another confusion with nfs server that is
i configured the nfs server on one computer and try to mount the shared
folder from client i got the responce that no route to host.
when i use iptables to allow the connections the mounting succeed.
another try is that i disable the selinux then also mounting succeed.
but we not allowed to disable the selinux in the exam.
so from the exam perspective if question is asked to configure the nfs
server what should we do.
i configured nfs and dhcp server to install the red hat in another
computer via nfs installation
when i tried to mount the directory from another computer it
says "directory could not be mounted"
one more curious thing is happening is that
after configuring the nfs server on my computer when i restart the
portmap and nfs service on graphical interface it start perfactly
but when i tried to do same thing on virtual console it shows error
"RPC: failed to connect portmap (error -5)".
in my configuration step i did these steps
1- in /etc/exports
/var/ftp/pub 192.168.0.0/24(rw,sync)
after that i start the service
and did this exportfs -av
rpcinfo -p was also showing all ports where the daemons were running
----------------
one more thing is that
when i shut down my pc
it shows the same error
"RPC: failed to connect portmap (error -5)".
-------------
what the problem may be
