I purchased an Asus Motherboard (A8V-VM) recently, that has an onboard AD1986a soundcard. It hasn't been detected by yast (I'm on SuSE 8.2) plus I've not been able to find workable drivers too.
First, I tried using alsaconf, but it failed. Then, from alsa-project's webpage (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/index.php?vendor=vendor-Analog_Devices#matrix where AD1985 seems to be the closest companion for my chipset), I downloaded the 1.0.9 version of alsa-drivers, alsa-libs and alsa-utils and tried installing them, with snd-intel8x0 and snd-via82xx as the arguments to modprobe, but in vain :(
Could someone please let me know of an alternative or correct me in what I've done, so far?
Thanks aprior,
Nitin
