experiences running LW 7.5 in OSX ?   Message List

Re: [LW] experiences running LW 7.5 in OSX ?

Nothing much to say, in my very limited experience it works fine. I
have heard some people complain about a plug-in or two that doesn't
work when running LW 7.5b, but I haven't run into any trouble. LW
runs so much better than on OS 9.x that there's no comparison.
Memory management makes all the difference in the world. One dumb
thing that Apple did on "Jaguar" is to make the system screen grabs
".pdf" files, and this can't be changed. (OS 10.1.x made ".tiff"
files) I bought Snapz Pro X to run instead since I often use screen
grabs when working in Lightwave.

Speaking of plug-ins, if you are using something specific be sure
there is an OS X version, this is not a "given." Lots of plug-ins
don't have OS X versions.

From time to time I've heard people talking about running LW on a
laptop, and from what I recall there are some hardware limitations.
For example, how big is your powerbook graphics card? Do they even
make 64MB cards for them?

Oh, and BTW, LW uses the PC version of Type 1 PostScript fonts so
save the ones you use to move over to the Mac.

good luck,
Greg
