Hello all! I'm a "new" member. I joined awhile back, but haven't had a chance to
look around or even lurk for that matter!

My name is Selondria & I'm 35. I live in my little purple house with my family &
our cat & I have a home art studio. I was first introduced to Mac's while in
college getting my graphic design degree. My first mac was a G3, which I still
have. To make a long story as short as possible, around the same time I
graduated I was diagnosed with a chronic illness so rather than going to work as
a graphic designer I got to be sick in bed for the most of 5 years. Yeah, talk
about one's life doing a U-turn! LOL

Ok, so now this brings me to the help part....And keep in mind that in college
they just taught us how to make things pretty, not how to troubleshoot programs
& such. I have a G3 with OS 8.6. The programs I use are Illustrator 8.0 &
Photoshop 5.5. They have not been upgraded ever, back to that in bed thing for 5
years. So after talking to a local mac shop, I bought a mini mac to hook into my
G3 monitor & I bought a Epson Stylus CX6600 printer/copier/scanner.

Well, there's a couple of things going on. First, I loaded my old programs &
they worked great....until I wanted to print. Says that my printer isn't there.
Called the mac people & they said the problem wasn't with the mac. So we called
the Epson people & they knew exactly what we were talking about & said to
partition the hard drive. So we called the mac folks back & to make a long story
short...still no printer printing from my old programs. Why do I have to talk to
David who keeps putting me on hold so he can talk to someone else? Why can't I
just talk to whoever he is talking to? LOL Grrr...Any ideas how to actually
print from my old programs? Or am I looking at buying all new programs? I didn't
want to have to upgrade everything at the same time as I'm kinda short on
finances which happens when ya end up unemployed.

Second, how do I get my old info from my zip disks & old hard drive to the mini
mac? Is there an external zip drive or something I can purchase?

I hope it's not tacky me asking so many questions on my first post. I feel so
far out of the loop of technology that my head wants to explode when I'm looking
for info on the internet. I just want to print my labels & business cards, ya
know? Could someone at least point me in the right direction or make a
suggestion? Or do I gotta follow the white rabbit down the hole? At this point
I'd do that too! LOL Or did I just buy all the wrong stuff & basically threw my
$$$ down the drain?

Thanks!
Selondria
