Hey, thanks for that advice! I'll have to get on their site & find those
disscussion boards. After several more calls to apple & one more to epson, epson
is the one who fixed the problem. Seems it's as simple as installing a complete
version of OS 9. Then I guess there's a way for me to choose either to start my
mac using OS 9 or OS X. If I want to use my old progams I start it up using the
OS 9.

While I can't solve your problems, I do know what you are talking about when
it comes to
looking for help with the phone service at Apple. Might I suggest you post
these problems
in their (apple.com) discussion area. I have done this a couple of times
since I became a
Mac user in 2002 and I find the advice excellent and it has solved all of my
problems.
Keep in mind, Apple service is rated as tops by a consumer magazine. So,
imagine what
that means for other folks...
