Hello everybody

Does anyone know of a comparison between the low-cost magnetometers,
especially HMC1043/1053, KMZ52 and Yas529? (Or does know of other
3-axis magnetometers with a similiar price and size)

I tried HMC1043 and YAS529 and found, that the datasheets are quite
optimistic. The HMC1043 is quite good, but YAS529 gives me "rough
ideas" only.

I need to detect the orientation of a magnetometer against the
direction of the local vector of Earth's field. The initial position
is known from GPS and the field is calculated using the program from
http://www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomag/WMM/wmm_cdownload.shtml.
